What is Klondike Turn 3?
Turn 3 is a beloved, more complex variation of traditional Klondike Solitaire. The major difference lies in how you interact with the stock pile (your reserve deck).
Instead of flipping over a single card, you must draw three cards at once. However, you cannot access all of them immediately; only the topmost card of that trio is available to play. If you successfully place that top card onto the board, the next card underneath it is "freed" and becomes playable. This overlapping mechanic requires much deeper strategy and foresight than the standard game.
How to Play the Game
The primary objective of Klondike Turn 3 is identical to the classic version: you must successfully relocate all 52 cards into the four empty foundation piles located at the top of the screen. You must build these piles by suit, starting with the Ace and ascending all the way to the King.
To accomplish this, you will need to manipulate the main playing area (the tableau):

Stack cards in the tableau in descending numerical order while strictly alternating between red and black colors.

Moving cards around the board allows you to uncover hidden, face-down cards.

When you run out of moves on the board, deal three cards from the stock pile to find new sequencing opportunities.
Which is Harder: Turn 1 or Turn 3?
If you find yourself losing frequently, don't be discouraged - Turn 3 is significantly harder than Turn 1.
In Turn 1, every single card you draw from the deck is immediately playable, giving you maximum flexibility. By restricting your access to every third card, Turn 3 severely limits your immediate options. It forces you to think several steps ahead to avoid getting trapped.
What is the Win Rate for Klondike Turn 3?
To understand just how difficult this variation is, we analyzed a sample size of over 1.4 million randomly generated games.
Out of 1,429,916 matches played, only 158,382 resulted in a victory. That means the mathematical odds of winning Klondike Turn 3 sit at just 11.1%. For comparison, the easier Turn 1 variant enjoys a much higher success rate of 33.0%.
